Unseen Beauty Essentials

We all have routines which get our days started or end them. Between those routines, or right in the middle of them, are products which make those routines. I thought I would share mine with you. Here they are:

#1. Lip balm

I’ve used many lip balms, but none have been as moisturizing  for my lips as this Smith Rosebud Salve has been. I love using this before bed or right before I put on lipstick.

#2. Lip scrub

This lip scrub by Fresh really takes off the dead skin and leaves your lips buttery soft. Bonus: it smells really good.

#3. Deodorant

LaVanilla Healthy Deodorant is the best deodorant that I have ever used. Even though it’s expensive as hell, it works very hard for me, and smells amazing.

#4. Cuticle Oil

Nails Inc Superfood Repair Oil is awesome because it really gets into that skin surrounding your nail bed, and it penetrates it, leaving my cuticles very moisturized.

#5. Nail file

When I first got my nails done I would get bio gel extension tips. However, in spite of how beautiful they were, they got in the way of my being able to take out my contact lenses. So now, instead of extensions, I get shellac manicures. Now, instead of the contact lense problem, my shellac manicures (where your natural nail is painted and treated) break at the tips within a week or two of getting a manicure. I guess you take the good with the bad in everything right? Anyways, I use this very file to smooth out my jagged nails. I’ve had it for years, I love it, and sorry, I have no idea where I bought it.

#6. Serum

I love using serums because they deliver all kinds of skin loving ingredients, they keep my skin hydrated, and they just feel really nice when you put them on. Serums are essential to me.

Summer Lips

1

Even though I like a lot of lipstick at all times of year, there is something about wearing a bright lip with a breezy summer dress or denim shorts and sandals. Bright lips are a good summer look for me because I hardly wear eye makeup in the summer  (too hot) so it brightens up my face without even trying. Another fun thing about lipstick is that it comes in so many colours that you can wear one for every day of the week. Here are my lips trying on eleven of my favourite colours for summer:

Spring Shoes

As I write this the sun is shinning and there is a delightful breeze that is the very definition of spring. Birds are flying at the window, and tree branches are wrestling in the sky. It’s the perfect weather. It’s the kind of weather that calls for lots of walking. It’s the kind of weather that calls for new shoes (especially when you haven’t bought any in a long time), and it’s the kind of weather that calls for ice cream and cute dresses to go with the cute shoes that you might be buying. Where did I go to get my cute shoes? To Payless Shoe Source. I found several pairs that will go quite nicely with my spring/summer dresses. Here they are:

  1. Floral

The pointed white floral shoes pair nicely with jumpsuits and mid-length dresses, and the blue floral shoes look amazing with full skirt dresses and skinny pants.

2. Classic

The brown flats are my nude shoes: they pair nicely with patterned dresses that I want a non-assuming shoe to go with, and the black shoes are perfect for slim leg pants and jeans. Both are very comfortable.

3. Solid Colour

IMG_0034The weird thing about these shoes is that they furl up when you’re not wearing them – like some kind of animal – and they have a million holes in them. But guess what? They’re very cute on and very comfortable. I can see myself walking for a long time in these beauties (wearing a casual spring/summer dress).

My Top (Drugstore) Autumn/W—— Lipsticks

autum lipsticks 003

You may have heard about how much I love lipstick.

Lately, new lipsticks have given the older ones an old shove in the save for later box. The box that I sometimes forget about when I’m smack dab in the middle of a lipstick roll. The reds, pinks, oranges, reds, pinks, oranges….

These are my current favourite Autumn/W—– lipsticks:

St. Lawrence Market & The Australian Connection

I met up with a friend (named Ivana and her friend Rachel) who visited Toronto as part of a glorious round trip tour of U.S. and Canada. Ivana and her friend are two lovely Aussie ladies who, although I didn’t have a lot of time, I had plenty of fun with!

We hit up St. Lawrence Market, the number one food and goods market in the world – according to the very astute National Geographic, and we ate our way through various sample cheeses, pretzels and Canadian mustard, and, of course, glorious Canadian Peller Estates wine.
